Closure threat still looms over Four Provinces bookshop

Democrat reporter

THE MANAGEMENT of the Four Provinces bookshop are still in negotiation with Camden Council to save the shop from closure. The shop, in central London, is one of the few resources in Britain for Irish language and history texts. For the moment, the Four Provinces remains open for business.

A spokesperson for the shop said: “The loss of this shop would be a serious blow to the Irish community and the Irish language movement. The shop desparately needs an injection of funds if it is to continue to serve the cultural needs of the Irish in Britain.

Anyone wishing to assist in the Four Provinces bookshop’s appeal for funds can send cheques (payable to the Connolly Association) to: Four Provinces Bookshop, 244 Grays Inn Road, London, WC1X 8JR, United Kingdom.
